At Popcorn & Ice Cream, being a good corporate citizen is more than just cause marketing. It’s an inherent part of who we are and what we do.
While many theories exist on the underlying personality traits of successful entrepreneurs, one essential skill is undisputed – the ability to read. Literacy is one of the best predictors of a child’s future success. And, for children growing up in low-income neighborhoods, books are scarce.
For this reason, at Popcorn & Ice Cream, we focus our philanthropic efforts on promoting early childhood literacy.
We’re honored to be charter members of Community Profits Montgomery – a new initiative that recognizes businesses that give back to Montgomery County.
Truckload of Books
We’re partnering with our friends in the business community to raise $20,000 to bring a truckload – yes 40,000!– new books to kids in Montgomery County. Help make this vision a reality with your contribution. Donate.
Spring Cleaning 2012
Clean out those bookshelves! We collected used books, CDs, DVDs and other media to support Books For America – a nonprofit that supports libraries and literacy programs across the DC area. The result of our efforts: Eight boxes of books for local schools, shelters and organizations.
Summer Reading 2011
For every new twitter follower we engaged this past summer reading season, we contributed $1 to First Book – Montgomery County. The result of our efforts: 125 new books for kids in need in our community.
